With Liverpool almost certain to win the Premier League title this season, their players will be looking forward to collecting their winners’ medals, but one of their squad remains uncertain about receiving one.

Federico Chiesa has been something of a periphery figure at Anfield this season, having made only 12 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, with only four of these coming in the Premier League.

Even these were simply cameo appearances against Bournemouth, Brentford, Ipswich and Fulham, meaning Chiesa has played a total of only 33 Premier League minutes prior to the Easter weekend.

Therefore, there has been serious questions regarding Chiesa's eligbilty for a Premier League winners' medal given his lack of game time, but now we have an answer.

Chiesa was instrumental for Italy as they won Euro 2020, yet life on English soil hasn’t been so simple for the winger during the 2024/25 season.

His lack of minutes means he has only scored two goals for Liverpool to date, coming in the FA Cup and League Cup Final defeat to Newcastle.

In previous years, players needed to have played a minimum of five Premier League appearances to get a winners’ medal. However, Chiesa should get one this season, even if he does spend the rest of it on the bench.

This is because clubs now get given 40 winners’ medals to give to who they decide within the squad and playing staff. Anyone who has made five league appearances automatically gets one. The club then decide on who to give leftover medals too.

Traditionally, the club have been generous in this regard. In their last title winning season of 2019/20, Harvey Elliott played less than 10 minutes of Premier League football. Yet he still received a medal.

That was of course when Jurgen Klopp was still Liverpool manager. Whether or not Arne Slot takes the same approach remains to be seen. With his side currently 13 points ahead of second place Arsenal with six games remaining, the title could be won sooner rather than later.

With that in mind, Slot will likely get the opportunity to give those on the fringes of the squad more of an opportunity to make Premier League appearances this season. Chiesa could certainly be on one of those. So if the Italian were to come on as sub in Liverpool's Easter Sunday game with Leicester, he will most likely add to his football successes on English soil.
