Out-of-favour Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is reportedly willing to take drastic action to bring his time at Anfield to an end during the January transfer window, but there’s one problem.
Chiesa arrived from Juventus in the summer of 2024 but has never nailed down a regular starting spot in Arne Slot’s Liverpool side.
The Italy international has featured 16 times out of a possible 22 Premier League games this term, although just one of these came from the start, while the other 15 came from the bench.
And with his nation still in contention to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup if they come through March’s European Play-Off, the winger will likely have to be playing regularly to be in with a chance of making Gennaro Gattuso’s squad for the tournament.

A report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims that Juventus are keen on the player as they aim to bring in reinforcements to help bolster their chances of securing Champions League qualification, as the side currently sit fifth in Serie A.

However, Chiesa’s return to Turin is supposedly being made complicated by Liverpool’s demands, with the club wanting to offload him permanently rather than just on loan.
But Juve want an initial loan with an option to purchase at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Reds reportedly value the 28-year-old to be worth between £13-17 million. To push a deal through, the winger would supposedly be willing to take a pay cut on his £6.5 million yearly salary.
However, contrary reports from Italy have suggested that Juventus have turned their attention to potentially signing Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as well as Atalanta’s Daniel Maldini.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that “Juventus are negotiating with Crystal Palace on a €33 million (£28.8 million) deal, including a loan with a mandatory buyout option if they qualify for Europe”.

The report added: “Before a deal is reached, which is possible but not yet a given, there's another issue to resolve: the hefty commissions demanded by the agents. This obstacle isn't insurmountable on paper, but it's not even a formality from what emerges.”
Chiesa, who is currently contracted to Liverpool until 2028, previously enjoyed success with the Bianconeri between 2020 and 2024, a period during which he helped the side win two Coppa Italia crowns.
