Jose Mourinho has been tipped to make a Premier League return after he was sacked by Fenerbahce following their failure to qualify for this season's Champions League league phase.
Fenerbahce missed out on a spot in Europe's elite competition on Wednesday, losing 1-0 against Benfica in the qualifying play-offs.
Two days later and the Super Lig side confirmed they will be parting ways with Mourinho, adding: "We thank him for his efforts for our team until today and wish him success in his future career."

After being handed the Fenerbahce job in 2024, the 62-year-old led them to a second-place finish in the league last season, although defeat to Rangers in the Europa League round of 16 was criticised by many.
This season, Fenerbahce have picked up four points from their opening two league matches, but clearly it wasn't enough as Mourinho was dismissed on Friday.

The self-proclaimed 'Special One', meanwhile, has always got one eye on a return to England's top flight – and it's been something the former Manchester United and Chelsea manager has been interested in for a while.

That's according to former United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who suggests Mourinho would be "open" to taking the job at Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “I read that Forest might look at Jose Mourinho. I think he would be open to taking that job, because he’s always got one eye on a return to the Premier League, it’s something he’s been interested in for a while.
“He rarely spends more than two or three years at any club, so he might be looking to leave Turkey already if the opportunity comes up."
Brown added: “Everybody knows what he’s like, he likes to be the centre of attention. That might be a good fit for Forest with all the talk around them at the moment.

“Replacing Nuno would be a controversial move, so who better to deal with that controversy? I certainly think it’s something he would be interested in should he be offered the chance.”
Despite helping the club secure European qualification for the first time in almost 30 years last season, Espirito Santo's future at the City Ground remains uncertain after a breakdown in his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of their clash against Crystal Palace, Espirito Santo said he had a "very good relationship" with the owner last season.

"We were very close and spoke daily basis," he said.
But in recent months, a lack of communication has been apparent between the pair. "This season it is not so well [between us], but I always believe that dialogue is important because my concern is the squad and the season we have ahead of us," he added.
"Our relationship has changed and we are not as close."
