Jack Grealish's Reaction to Being Told He's Premier League POTM During Interview

The midfielder has enjoyed a superb start to life at Everton.

Jack Grealish has been voted Premier League Player of the Month for the first time – and his reaction to being told the news will go down as one of the most wholesome moments of the season.

The 30-year-old, who joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City last month, has enjoyed a terrific start to life under David Moyes.

Grealish is currently leading the Premier League assists charts with four in three games, which is double that of any other player in the competition and twice as many as his previous two league campaigns.

As a result of his form, Grealish was included in an eight-man shortlist that featured Erling Haaland, Dominik Szoboszlai and Antoine Semenyo.

And on Friday, it was announced that the attacking midfielder had come out on top following a combination of a fan vote on the EA Sports website and votes from a panel of football experts.

Grealish, who celebrated his 30th birthday this week, was presented the Player of the Month trophy by Everton fan and content creator Andy Castell at Finch Farm.

But before that, fellow summer signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall surprised his teammate as they prepared to take part in an interview with the club's social media channels.

"Right before we start, I know it's your birthday week, so I got you a little present," said Dewsbury-Hall. "I've got a feeling you might know what it is. Well deserved, mate. Premier League Player of the Month."

Moments later and Grealish looked a tad emotional. "I actually thought you were winding me up," he smiled. "I'm quite speechless, actually."

To put his achievement into further perspective, Grealish is the first Everton player to claim the Player of the Month prize since Dominic Calvert-Lewin in September 2020.

Speaking after Everton's 3-2 win over Wolves at the end of last month, Dewsbury-Hall was full of praise for Grealish as he spoke about his training habits.

“One thing I’ve noticed is Jack’s one of the first in and one of the last out at training every day,” he told The Athletic. “He’s always doing the recovery, doing the right things, ice baths, massages, putting himself in the best possible position to perform for the team.

“And look, he’s played three games this week, which is a credit to him. He’s kept himself in the right shape.”
