A former Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur legend once broke a key rule while appearing on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

Beloved ITV reality series I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here returned to our television screens last week as several famous faces test themselves in the Australian jungle.

Former Lioness and and pundit Alex Scott and YouTube and Twitch star Angry Ginge, who has taken part in Soccer Aid and is a regular of the Baller League, are among the stars taking part in the 25th series this year.

Several major names from the Premier League have previously appeared in the show, including Arsenal icon Ian Wright, beloved former Soccer AM host Jimmy Bullard and former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp, who was crowned king of the jungle back in 2018.

But there is one Premier League legend that was quickly told off by the show's producers after breaking one of the key rules.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the I'm a Celeb bosses were forced to abandon the Australian jungle for the 2020 and 2021 series, instead holding the show inside Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

During the second season held in Wales, ex-Newcastle United and Spurs forward Ginola was selected to take part, alongside Olympic diver Matty Lee and Frankie Bridge, a former singer from The Saturdays and the wife of former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge.

However, the France international quickly found himself in trouble with the producers of the show, as fellow campmate Richard Madeley later revealed that Ginola had broken the rule of covering up his microphone while in camp.

Writing in The Telegraph, the television presenter revealed: “Like the The Truman Show, they are always watching, so you need to be careful; and if you do dare break the rules, you’ll soon know about it.”

“On one day, David Ginola covered both our microphones and whispered something conspiratorial to me. “Instantly the Voice of God rang out, admonishing him.”

Unfortunately, Madeley decided not to share what exactly this “conspiratorial” whisper was about.

Despite breaking the rule, Ginola remained popular both with his campmates and the viewers at home and ultimately made it to day 19 of the show after finishing in 4th place.
