A Fantasy Premier League expert has named one highly-owned player that managers must sell ahead of gameweek two.

The Premier League made its return last weekend, meaning that after a summer of European football, the Fantasy Premier League game is back.

The exciting first gameweek saw big scores from players like Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka and Pedro Porro.

And ahead of the gameweek two deadline on Saturday, one FPL expert has recommended managers sell a player that is owned by thousands of FPL managers.

Speaking on his TikTok account, Andy from Lets Talk FPL said: "Trippier has to go, he's £6million and you can't even be sure when he's going to start."

Kieran Trippier is currently owned by 12% of FPL managers, making him the 11th most owned defender in the game.

Approximately 11 million people play FPL each year, meaning that over a million managers currently have the Newcastle United defender in their team.

And yet, he earned zero points in Newcastle's season opener against Southampton at St James' Park.

The English international was an unused substitute in the match, with youngsters Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento favoured as the two fullbacks.

It is likely that Trippier's ownership is so high due to his impressive returns in the previous two seasons, when he scored over 100 points in both due to his ability to register goals and assists while playing in one of the best defences in the league.

Andy recommends Liverpool pair Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk as well as Josko Gvardiol, all of which are also £6m, as suitable replacements for Trippier given their favourable upcoming fixtures.

Robertson, who is currently owned by 4.9% of managers, and Van Dijk, who is owned by 12.8%, play welcome Brentford to Anfield in their next Premier League match, having beaten Ipswich Town 2-0 in their season opener.

Whereas a massive 33.2% of managers currently own Gvardiol, who rewarded managers with seven points after Manchester City cooly defeated Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Newcastle's will travel to the Vitality Stadium for their next match to face Bournemouth but once again, it is unlikely that Trippier will start the match, despite featuring in an Under-21 match against Sunderland on Monday.
