Neal Maupay has called out a group of Everton fans who abused their own players at London Euston train station after Saturday's defeat against Spurs.

It has been a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign for Sean Dyche's side. In fact, they currently sit rock bottom of England's top flight with a goal difference of -7.

A week after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Brighton at Goodison Park, the Toffees struggled in large spells when they came up against Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

Yves Bissouma opened the scoring with a powerful effort before goals from Son Heung-min [2] and Cristian Romero sealed a convincing 4-0 win for the home side.

Everton, meanwhile, were once again poor in large spells.

After the full-time whistle on Saturday afternoon, a number of fans gathered at Euston Station in London to voice their displeasure at the travelling squad.

Jordan Pickford and Mason Holgate were filmed acknowledging the angry supporters, whilst French forward Neal Maupay was seen clearly responding to a heckle.

Moments later, one fan responded: "F*** off, you f***ing rat. F***ing 80 grand a week? You f***ing w****r."

As the clip gathered momentum on social media, Maupay made his feelings clear on the incident. He wrote: "Imagine another job where it’s normalised to get abuse like this."

He added: "Hanging around at a train station to scream at men who are trying their best."

Maupay, who has scored one goal in 32 appearances for Everton since his £15 million move from Brighton, recently returned to Goodison Park following a season-long loan spell at Brentford.

Back in February, the 28-year-old opened up on the "disturbing" abuse he received on social media after he scored the winner for Brighton in their 2020 clash against Arsenal.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Why Do You Hate Me podcast, Maupay gave an insight into the comments, which included one from an anonymous account which warned that his "loved ones would go through suffering".

They also threatened to harm him and added "your family will be attacked later in the day just watch."

Maupay said: "I got home and got a phone call from the club saying, listen, there's a lot of stuff going on online. We advise you to switch off your social media and you deactivate your accounts if you want to.

"It was very disturbing. I called the club and I said, 'listen, we need to do something, cause what if that guy is really coming to my house?'"
