Arsenal transfer target David Raya has awkward tattoo on the back of his neck, it might annoy fans

Arsenal target David Raya has a tattoo that is sure to garner some weird looks from some of the Arsenal faithful.

Soon to be Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya has an awkward tattoo that is sure to turn some heads at his prospective new club, as it commemorates an Arsenal defeat.

David Raya is all but set to join the Gunners from Brentford this summer, with Thomas Frank more or less confirming the news in his pre-match press conference: "I expect the deal to be completed with Arsenal.

"He is not here at the moment and he won’t be involved on Sunday [against Tottenham]."

According to talkSPORT, the goalkeeper will join Arsenal on loan with the option to make the move permanent for a reported fee of £30 million if agreed upon by all parties.

His future teammates and Arsenal fans alike may not be the biggest supporters of the tattoo he sports on the back of his neck, mind.

The Spanish international has the dates 13-08-21 inked on him, in commemoration of Brentford's first ever match in the Premier League.

It was a truly significant match in the Bees' history, as they went on to secure a 2-0 home win over Arsenal on the opening day of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Raya then got the date permanently inked onto his body as it also marked his first top-flight clean sheet, which was a touching sentiment while he was playing under Thomas Frank.

But his pending move to North London could make it an awkward feature to bring up.

The 27-year-old has been with Brentford since 2019, making 161 appearances in all competitions, and 62 coming in the Premier League.

Raya played all 38 of their Premier League matches last season as he helped Brentford to a ninth-placed finish, the highest in the league so far.

The shot-stopper is set to become Arsenal's fourth summer signing, following the captures of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
