Arsenal have a long-standing interest in a Liverpool transfer target as a stunning move for the star player has been discussed.

Arsenal recruited heavily in the summer, snapping up the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Martin Zubimendi, among others.

The Gunners spent around £250 million, including the £55 million signing of forward Gyokeres.

Despite the winter transfer window being open, the club are already planning for the summer market.

That's according to David Ornstein who dropped a transfer nugget hours before Arsenal's Premier League clash against Liverpool on Thursday.

Ornstein claims Arsenal retain a long-standing interest in Marc Guehi and view him as a defensive option for the summer transfer window.

Per his report, Arsenal have discussed pursuing Guehi and figure among a host of suitors in contact with the defender's representatives.

Arsenal already boast star centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel, not to mention Piero Hincapie who was signed in the summer, but are clearly looking to reinforce their options at the back.

Liverpool also want to sign Guehi and, like Arsenal, are eyeing up a summer move given his contract with Crystal Palace expires on June 30.

The 25-year-old almost joined Liverpool on deadline day in the summer until Palace pulled the plug at the eleventh hour.

Personal terms were in place after he completed part of a Liverpool medical ahead of a £35 million transfer.

The Reds may lose Ibrahima Konate at the end of the season, so the potential acquisition of Guehi would serve as a ready-made replacement considering he knows the league through his time with Palace.

Manchester City are keeping tabs on Guehi, too.

But unlike their domestic rivals, they are deliberating whether to push for him in January, with Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias sustaining injuries in their recent fixture against Chelsea.

He's attracting interest from Europe's elite, too, with Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in admiration of the England international.

Guehi has played 152 league games for Palace following his £18 million switch from Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

He came through the ranks at Chelsea but made just two senior appearances for the Blues.
