An incredibly emotional Pep Guardiola was in tears after Manchester City pulled off an incredible comeback against Aston Villa to win the 2021/22 Premier League title.

With the title race coming down to the final day, it was a nervy first-half performance from both teams.

In the opening three minutes at Anfield, a lacklustre Liverpool went 1-0 behind against Wolves after Raul Jimenez squared the ball to Pedro Neto, who converted from close range.

Sadio Mane, who has saved Jurgen Klopp's side on numerous occasions this season, equalised with 27 minutes on the clock thanks to a quite wonderful back-heeled assist from Thiago Alcantara.

Meanwhile over at the Etihad and Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa had started well. In fact, after a number of chances, full-back Matty Cash made it 1-0 before former Liverpool attacking midfielder Coutinho made it two.

It looked like Manchester City were down and out but as we've learnt over the years; you should never doubt Pep Guardiola's men.

In the space of five minutes, Ilkay Gundogan [2] and Rodri gave the Citezens a 3-2 lead.

Liverpool went on to pick up a 3-1 win against Wolves thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson but it wasn't enough. City had won the Premier League by a single point.

Moments after the final whistle, cameras panned over to an emotional Guardiola, who could be seen in tears after embracing his coaching staff. "Pep Guardiola can't cope," said Gary Neville on commentary. "That shot there of him crying says it all"

Earlier this week, Guardiola insisted more people wanted Liverpool to win the Premier League due to the club's history ahead of the final day of the season.

The Spaniard thought more fans want Jurgen Klopp's side to pip his side to the title as they have a greater history of winning championships.

He also believes City have been the 'outsiders in the last decade' as they look to claim their eighth league title on Sunday.

"We are new outsiders in the last decade."
