Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest are in talks to make Dutch forward Jizz Hornkamp their 13th signing of the summer.

Steve Cooper's side have been active in their search for attacking players since acheiving promotion in May.

After club legend Lewis Grabban decided against signing a new deal with the club, Forest have splashed a record fee of £17.5 million on Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin.

They have also brought in Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, Brandon Aguilera from Costa Rica side AD Guanacasteca and Nuno Da Costa on a loan deal from Caen.

Forest are intent on making a statement in their first top flight season in 23 years. And in another impressive move, Cooper's men are targeting 24-year-old striker Jizz Hornkamp.

The 24-year-old, who only signed for Willem II in January, scored four goals in 13 appearances for the Dutch side but couldn't help them avoid Eredivisie relegation.

A deal has yet to be agreed between both clubs, according to The Athletic, but Forest want him to play a part in their Premier League campaign in the coming months.

Hornkamp made his name at FC Den Bosch during a three year spell at the De Vliert stadium, and memorably scored four goals in 34 minutes against Excelsior Rotterdam last year.

Here are those goals.

Forest manager Steve Cooper says playing in England's top flight is a "long time coming" ahead of their Premier League opener against Newcastle on Saturday.

"There are a number of emotions," he said. "There is excitement and everyone is looking forward to the challenge of the Premier League, it has been a long time coming.

“There is focus. We are under no illusions and it will be incredibly tough, game in, game out. Everyone is trying to get as prepared as possible.

"You have to try to thrive off the challenge. So many players and staff work to try to get an opportunity in the Premier League. We don’t want to have negative emotions going into it.

“We really believe in our work – what we can do – and that we can be more than a good match against any opponent.

"We have to believe in our work, ourselves. If we don’t then why should anyone else? We will have that approach and other objectives internally.”
