From Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid to Liverpool and Manchester United, the most successful trophy-winning clubs have been named.

Fierce Scottish rivals Rangers and Celtic have been named as the two most successful football clubs in history based around the astonishing silverware they've amassed.

The Daily Star compiled the list to determine which clubs across the world boast the most impressive trophy hauls.

Rangers took home the top spot with 115 trophies to the club's name, with 54 of those being league titles.

Celtic fell short of their fierce rivals by five trophies in second place, with the club boasting 51 league titles.

Egyptian side Al-Ahly, which has previously been recognised as the most successful club, finished third on The Daily Star's list.

The publication claims that Al-Ahly have won 107 trophies, which includes 41 titles in the Egyptian Premier League.

Rangers, Celtic and Al-Ahly are the only clubs on the list to boast over 100 trophies to their respective names.

Real Madrid's recent La Liga triumph has moved them ahead of fierce rivals Barcelona in the rankings.

Los Blancos are in fourth place with 90 titles -- 34 of which are La Liga titles -- while Barcelona ranked fifth with 89 trophies.

Only Manchester United and Liverpool represent the English Premier League in the 15-team rankings.
