Thiago's stunning performance for Bayern Munich against Chelsea in the Champions League got Liverpool fans talking on social media.

Thiago starred for the German champions as they easily beat Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate to book their place in the Champions League last eight.

The Spain international pulled the strings in midfield and dominated the engine room of the pitch.

He broke up play, showed off his short and long range passing and commanded the midfield in a stellar showing on Saturday.

His outing sent social media wild with Liverpool supporters desperate for him to sign for the Premier League champions this summer.

One Twitter user wrote: "Standard Thiago, been in the conversation as best CM in the world for half a decade."

A second tweeted: "Would walk into any of the top 6 sides in England."

A third added: "Special, special player."

Thiago has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield with the 29-year-old reportedly keen on a switch to England.

The Reds could swoop in for the world class midfielder with Jurgen Klopp speaking glowingly about him after his side played Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season.

"I've probably never seen them defend like that," he said.

"Respect to them as they made it difficult for us, although we had good situations where we missed the last touch.

"Thiago is a world-class footballer. He played that deep-lying playmaker role very well. Alongside [Javi] Martinez, they were very good."
