Cristiano Ronaldo Is Statistically The Second-Worst Free-Kick Taker In Serie A History

Cristiano Ronaldo Is Statistically The Second-Worst Free-Kick Taker In Serie A History

Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has the unfortunate pleasure of being named the second-worst free-kick taker in Serie A's history.

According to Italian outlet Ultimo Uomo, the 34-year-old Portuguese forward has had 18 attempts in the league and failed to find the back of the net on every occasion.

The only footballer ahead of Ronaldo is Camillo Ciano, who played for Frosinone last season and failed to score in 21 attempts.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star's track record for Juventus is worse when his free-kicks from the Champions League are included in his stats.

Ronaldo has not scored from 24 free-kicks for Juventus, with 15 of his attempts hitting the wall, two failing to hit the target and seven of his shots were saved.

Juventus star Miralem Pjanic has a better track record than Ronaldo in free-kick attempts, mainly for how he has scored once in his six free-kick attempts.

Ronaldo was ruled out of Juventus' 2-1 victory over Brescia on Tuesday due to muscle fatigue.

And he didn't attend the Best FIFA Football Awards on Monday because of the injury he picked up in a training session with Juventus.

The Portugal captain missed out on the Best FIFA Men's Player award to fierce rival Lionel Messi.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici believes that the Barcelona captain should not have beaten Ronaldo.

"We are also disappointed over the award last night," he said.

"While still respecting Messi, who is a great player, we think and thought that after last season, having won the Nations League, Serie A, and the Italian Super Cup, having played a great Champions League, he [Ronaldo] deserved this award."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has made five appearances across all competitions this season and scored two times.
