The midfielder left the like on Instagram, although it's unclear whether he supports its main message.

Jesse Lingard has liked a post from a Cristiano Ronaldo fan page calling for the sacking of Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Instagram post in question showed a series of images from the side's recent humiliating loss against Liverpool, with the caption rounded off by the hashtag #OleOUT.

It's not known whether this was an intentional move by Lingard, who has largely been used as a rotational player by the Norwegian this season.

The controversy comes after last weekend's defeat to Liverpool side, which saw United on the wrong end of a 5-0 drubbing - much to the dismay of an on-looking Sir Alex Ferguson.

Since the conclusion of the game, the calls for Solskjaer to be sacked as manager have continued to grow, with pressure now mounting on the United hierarchy to act.

According to the MEN, the club's owners are considering changes, but nothing has been decided just yet.

However, the biggest clue as to how the United dressing room is feeling about their current manager can be seen in Lingard's Instragam activity.

As the Tweet above highlights, Lingard rather publically liked an Instagram post calling for Solskjaer to be sacked, in the biggest indication yet that the 48-year-old has lost the dressing room.

Fan reaction to the midfielder liking the post was mixed, with some praising the Manchester-born man for understanding the feelings of the supporters - while others insisted that he didn't mean to offer his support to the statement.

It's still unclear whether the England international supports the message in the post, but either way, Solskjaer will be extremely fortunate if he manages to end to get to the end of this week unscathed.
