Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has two clubs looking to sign him on a free transfer after he became the unlikely face of the 2026 World Cup.

Vozinha starred for Cape Verde in their fairytale maiden tournament in North America, where they reached the round of 32 before being eliminated in narrow fashion by world champions Argentina in extra time.

He kept two clean sheets against Spain and Saudi Arabia, with Cape Verde undefeated in the group stage and qualifying for the knockout stages as one of the highest-ranked third place teams.

40-year-old Vozinha made a total of 18 saves across the four games he played and became a huge sensation on social media, accruing a whopping 25 million followers on Instagram as fans flocked to support him.

He is currently without a club having left Portuguese second-division club Chaves upon the expiry of his contract.

However Fabrizio Romano claims that he has two admirers from Brazil, with two Serie B sides desperate to secure his signature in a move which could also have huge marketing benefits.

Speaking after releasing a new update on X, Romano said: "What's next for Vozinha after having this fantastic World Cup? Don't forget he is a free agent. He is 40 years old but it can be an opportunity on the pitch but also off the pitch in the sense of marketing.

"Vozinha already has two proposals from the second division in Brazil. Already clubs are moving for Vozinha, he and his camp are going to be finding the right opportunity. He will soon be finding a new club."

Vozinha could be set for sensational Lionel Messi reunion after special moment

A separate report claims that Vozinha also has interest from David Beckham's Inter Miami, who could offer him the incredible experience of sharing a dressing room with eight-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi.

Record say that the Herons are interested in signing Vozinha and that there is 'strong interest' from the MLS outfit, who hold him in 'high regard' after his incredible World Cup campaign.

He would likely be the club's back-up goalkeeper but it would be quite the move for Vozinha, whose fortunes have changed dramatically in just a matter of weeks.

Messi showed his class with a message to Vozinha after Argentina's 3-2 victory, paying tribute to Cape Verde for their achievements and hailing their goalkeeper.

The Barcelona icon agreed to give him his shirt after the game.

Vozinha revealed: "I went up to Messi after the game. He hugged me and said, ‘You are great. Your people should be proud of you’. That was incredible for me.

“Hearing words like that from someone like Leo Messi means a lot to me. I thanked him and said, ‘Thank you, Leo. You are the best’.

“Then I asked if we could swap shirts. Leo said he would give it to me in the tunnel after the interview.”
