iShowSpeed's reaction to Argentina win vs Egypt goes viral after trying to 'put off' Lionel Messi

Social media star iShowSpeed's live reaction to Argentina coming from behind to beat Egypt 3-2 in the World Cup has gone viral.

Speed was in the crowd in Atlanta as Argentina staged a comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and reach the World Cup quarter-finals.

They went 2-0 down through goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Ziko, with Egypt also having a goal disallowed for offside.

But with 79 minutes on the clock, Spurs defender Cristian Romero pulled a goal back for Argentina, before Messi struck with a superb left-footed effort on the half-volley that Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir couldn't keep out.

Enzo Fernandez then planted a header into the bottom right corner in the second minute of stoppage time and send the Argentina supporters into a frenzy.

That wasn't the case when it came to Cristiano Ronaldo superfan Speed, who had watched his idol be knocked out of the World Cup on Monday when Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain.

He was hoping to see Messi on the end of defeat in Atlanta, and attempted to put him off prior to the Argentina captain missing a first-half penalty - his second miss from the spot in the tournament.

Immediately after Fernandez's goal, he couldn't hide his shock that Messi and Argentina were on the cusp of making it through.

Speed threw both hands up in the air, leaving them in the exact same position for the next minute while looking around the stadium in disbelief and shaking his head.

"What do I do?" he shouted.

While he was stationary, Speed - who was wearing an Egypt shirt - was approached by a female fan who appeared to shout a few choice words in his direction.

And at full-time, he was goaded by a number of Argentina fans who were sat in the section of the stand behind him.

Speed puts Messi off before penalty

Speed was stood directly behind the goal in which Argentina were attacking during the first half - and therefore got a prime view of Messi's penalty miss.

The 38-year-old missed from the spot earlier in the tournament against Austria, and is now the first player in history to miss two penalties at a single World Cup.

But it's not a record he is likely to dwell on given that Argentina eventually got through, and he later became the first player in World Cup history to score in six consecutive knockout stage matches.

He's also reestablished himself as the sole leader of the Golden Boot race, with eight goals scored compared to Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland's seven each for France and Norway respectively.

Prior to his penalty miss, Speed made several gestures in an attempt to catch Messi's attention - and looked equally as stunned as he did at Argentina's comeback when Messi missed from 12 yards.
