Of all the footballers you'd think of having beef on Twitter, Kylian Mbappe and Benoit Assou-Ekotto probably wouldn't spring to mind but they have been embroiled in an exchange.

It stems from PSG star Mbappe having a meeting with France president Emmanuel Macron, along with Liberian president George Weah and Didier Drogba, over launching a new platform to help improve sport in Africa.

Though the 19-year old was born in France and he has played ten times for Les Bleus, he has Cameroonian roots from his father and was therefore eligible to play for them.

Former Spurs and QPR player Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who played at two World Cups for Cameroon, takes issue with it and ripped into Mbappe on Twitter.

Roughly translated, the post from the man who once said he only plays football because of the money, said:

"These European players of African descent who hold Africa in their hearts and want to help the African sport blah blah blah while rushing to play for a European selection you make me laugh ... but that's good causes ... #"

Mbappe, perhaps a tad surprisingly, responded and brought up an incident where Assou-Ekotto headbutted a teammate in the 2014 World Cup. No Chill from Kylian.

"These African players who hold Africa in their hearts and want to help African sport blah-blah-blah blah while fighting with a teammate on the international scene in 2014.... You make me softly laugh... but these are your values
