The Premier League's worst time-wasters have been revealed and Newcastle United are NOT the worst offenders.

Newcastle have been criticised this season for supposedly wasting time in matches, with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag calling out their style of play ahead of the Carabao Cup final in February.

But the shoe was on the other foot in Sunday's league clash between Newcastle and Arsenal as Eddie Howe complained about Mikel Arteta's side.

The Magpies coach slammed Arteta's team for the amount of breaks in play following their 2-0 defeat at St. James' Park.

But Newcastle are NOT the biggest culprit of time-wasting, according to new data.

Statistics have shown that Brentford are the biggest time-wasters in England's top flight, with an average delay time of 31.4 seconds before play restarts.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool rank as the best team in terms of time-wasting, with an average delay time of 23.2 seconds before play restarts.

Speaking after Newcastle's defeat to Arsenal, Howe wasn't happy with the Gunners for slowing down play.

"They managed the game well from their perspective. They slowed it down, lots of breaks in play, which was frustrating for us," he said in his post-match press conference.

"Naturally, we wanted the ball in play more. Especially when you’re chasing the game.

"But we have to look at what we can control. We can’t control that. That’s the referee’s job.

"What we can control is taking our chances and possibly defending better than we did today."

Though Arsenal fan Laura Woods has hit back at the manager's claim with some damning evidence.
