Newcastle United continue their pre-season tour of Austria today against Bundesliga side Mainz.
The Magpies have already played two friendlies since returning to training after the summer break, thrashing Gateshead 5-1 at Darsley Park and then beating 1860 Munich in Saalfelden, Austria, on Friday.
Eddie Howe’s side kick off their Premier League season in three weeks time against newly promoted Nottingham Forest, and the English boss will be looking to use these friendlies as an opportunity to work on the fitness of his squad.
As for Mainz, they also have just three weeks left to prepare for the new season, where they face VFL Bochum on the opening day.
