Fans can't believe the low wages Moises Caicedo is on at Brighton, as they attempt to keep him from Arsenal

Caicedo has made it clear that he'd like to leave Brighton in order to move to the Premier League leaders, he'll definitely be paid more.

Moises Caicedo could be on his way to Arsenal, if he gets his way, and fans can't believe how much he's making at Brighton currently.

There isn't many of us who wouldn't like a significant pay rise now and again, especially with the cost of living crisis at the moment.

It's the very issue that threatens to grind the UK to a halt at the moment, with the trains, postal services, teachers and NHS staff all striking or considering strike action, and it's understandable.

Even footballers love an increase in wages, it's exactly why Cristiano Ronaldo went from having no interest in moving to Saudi Arabia to finding himself there.

The 37-year-old's ridiculous wages in the Middle East, which could pay for more than 6000 teachers in their first year, making him the highest paid athlete in the world.

Of course, not everyone can be on Ronaldo monday, and that's certainly the case for Brighton midfielder Caicedo, who has been very clear in his desire to leave for Arsenal.

The Gunners have had a £60 million bid rejected for the Ecuadorian, who has now been given a break by the would be selling club.

According to reports, Caicedo is on 'just' £15,000-per-week, or £780,000 for the season, well below the claimed £60k-a-week average in the Premier League.

Understandably, considering his incredible talent, fans couldn't believe his comparatively small wages compared to most of the league.

"Brighton signed Caicedo for under 10 million and put him on youth wages. Now later they want close to 90 million for him. If you valued the boy that much, why didn't you offer him a new deal with better wages in the summer," one questioned.

"Huge problem for Caicedo in that he's basically on U21 wages. Brighton could ruin his career with absolutely no remorse or financial difficulty," an Arsenal fan complained.

There were some who believed the 21-year-old was still on just £3,000-a-week, leading to some of the comments, such as another Gunners' supporter, who added, "Caicedo earning the same wages as cash in hand electricians. Brighton are criminals."

Another suggested the player use the rejected bid to his favour, adding, "If Brighton refuses to sell Caicedo this January, he should demand upwards of £50k a week wages from them. Ain't no way you value a player at above £65 million and pay him £15k per week."

And another thinks the players actions are justified by his pay, replying, "Before you criticise Caicedo's behaviour, please check out his wages. You'll either laugh or cry."
