Mohamed Salah has become the highest-paid player in Liverpool history after signing a new three-year contract worth £350,000-per-week.

The 30-year-old ended all doubts surrounding his future after putting pen to paper on a new contract on Friday afternoon.

Salah's previous deal was set to expire next summer and there were growing concerns he would depart as a free agent.

Talks between Liverpool and Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, stalled in December but the Egypt international remained optimistic about extending his stay on Merseyside.

Since arriving from Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 156 goals in 254 appearances and won the Champions League, Premier League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

It is believed Virgil van Dijk was previously the highest-paid player at Anfield, pocketing £220,000-per-week after signing a contract extension last August.

Salah's new pay packet blows that out of the water and it hammers home how important he is to Jurgen Klopp's side.

The winger is currently on holiday ahead of pre-season but is raring to return to action.

He told Liverpool's official website: "It takes a little bit of time, I think, to renew, but now everything is done so we just need to focus on what's next.

"I think you can see in the last five or six years the team was always going [upwards]. Last season we were close to winning four, but unfortunately in the last week of the season we lost two trophies.

"We have new signings as well. We just need to keep working hard, have a good vision, be positive and go for everything again."

Klopp has added Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz to his squad in the last two years as he attempts to rejuvenate Liverpool's frontline.

This summer has seen further evolution with the arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

Sadio Mane left the club for Bayern Munich last month and there is speculation about the future of Roberto Firmino.

The Brazil international has been linked with a move to Juventus in recent days, which could see midfielder Adrien Rabiot move in the opposite direction.

Liverpool finished second in the Premier League last season, one point behind champions Manchester City.

They'll take on City at Wembley in the Community Shield on July 30 before kicking off their Premier League campaign away to newly-promoted Fulham on August 6.
