Mohamed Salah received a telling reception from the Anfield crowd on Saturday afternoon as he replaced Joe Gomez in the first half of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Brighton.

It has been an eventful few days for Salah, who was left out of Liverpool's squad for their Champions League clash against Inter Milan, just days after giving an extraordinary interview regarding his current situation.

Salah, who is the third-highest scorer in Liverpool's history with 250 goals, accused the club of throwing him "under the bus" following a tricky start to the 2025-26 campaign.

After being benched for a third consecutive game against Leeds United on December 6, he also claimed that his relationship with manager Arne Slot had broken down.

The Egyptian's future remains uncertain, especially after he hinted that Saturday's Premier League clash against Brighton could be his last for Liverpool.

That being said, the forward was named on the bench for this weekend's game at Anfield and with just 26 minutes played, Salah was introduced for the injured Joe Gomez.

Unsurprisingly, the 33-year-old received a warm reception from the Liverpool faithful, as seen in the footage below, as he joined Florian Wirtz and goalscorer Hugo Ekitike in attack.

Dominik Szoboszlai, meanwhile, was asked to fill in at right-back following the injury to Gomez.

As mentioned above, Salah's future is uncertain. Saudi Pro League clubs Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah are all prepared to make a move for the player, according to The Telegraph.

And with rumours intensifying over a potential transfer to the Middle East, Salah met with former Liverpool teammate Jordan Henderson on Wednesday as they dined at West London restaurant Scalini.

Henderson, who played for Saudi side Al-Ettifaq, could be seen deep in conversation with Salah during a 90-minute meet-up, with eyewitnesses claiming that Henderson was “answering a lot of questions from Mo”.

That's according to a report from The Sun, with a source telling the publication: “They both came in wearing covid-style masks and had hats covering their faces. They tried to stay under the radar."

“Our mouths dropped when we saw it was Mo and Jordan," the source added. "The immediate thought was, ‘Salah’s off to Saudi’.”

The meeting between Henderson and Salah inevitably sparked rumours that they were chatting about life in Saudi. It also came after the SPL's chief executive Omar Mugharbel confirmed that the player is a target for Saudi clubs.
