With his future up in the air at present, Marcel Sabitzer has made some telling comments about Manchester United ahead of this summer's transfer window.

The 29-year-old midfielder, who joined Erik ten Hag's side on a six-month loan deal from Bayern Munich in January, was brought in to add strength in depth following a serious injury to Christian Eriksen.

And the Austrian international has impressed when called upon. So far, Sabitzer has scored three goals in 16 appearances in all competitions, including an impressive brace in their Europa League clash against Sevilla.

But has he done enough to secure a permanent contract? Back in April, Ten Hag praised the player's "fantastic" impact at Old Trafford since his arrival.

"He’s [Sabitzer] doing fantastic,’ said Ten Hag. "He’s adjusted well to Manchester United and the Premier League. He is a great person and suits the dressing room well. He’s an intelligent player and we’re happy with his role at this moment."

Sabitzer, meanwhile, appears keen on a permanent stay – and even suggested United being "bigger" than his former teams, including Bayern Munich.

Speaking to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, he said: “I’ve already experienced a lot in my career, including Bayern Munich. Here, everything is bigger. There are even more people who care about you.

“People are crazy about Manchester United. You can feel it at Old Trafford. So I can only say that I enjoy being here and I’m very proud to have managed to be a part of the club.”

Sabitzer, who went on to confirm that no contact has been made with parent club Bayern about a move, recently claimed he has "found my place" at United after a decent start to life in Manchester.

"The situation will be assessed in the summer," he told German publication Bild. "But I can say for myself, I have found my place here. I know the Premier League now and I can say there is nothing better, more intense and tougher.

"Every game is a fight, everything goes faster. This is the best league in the world. Once you've played here, you know, it's incomparable here."

He was also asked if he is open to joining United permanently. "Of course my thoughts on United - especially looking at how things are going, the confidence I get from Erik ten Hag - are very positive," the 29-year-old said.

"But I don't have to decide it alone. I'll be a Bayern player again from July 1, 2023, that's what the contract says. There will certainly also be a conversation with Thomas Tuchel. I'm not stuck in any direction."
