Why Victor Osimhen's girlfriend could be key to summer transfer amid Man Utd and Bayern Munich interest

Victor Osimhen's girlfriend could play a major role in the Nigerian's transfer decision, as Bayern Munich and Manchester United close in on a deal.

Erik ten Hag is in the market for an elite striker this summer, following the acrimonious departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

While Osimhen has reportedly emerged as his priority target, having deeply impressed for Napoli this season.

The 24-year-old has managed 25 goals in all competitions this term and is the top scorer in Serie A by some distance.

His prolific form has caught the attention of several European top clubs, with Napoli expected to demand in excess of €100 million (£88 million) for their prized asset.

However, Osimhen's next destination could hinge on his girlfriend's whereabouts, who is thought to favour one particular move.

Man Utd dealt Osimhen transfer blow

Bayern Munich have received a major boost in their pursuit of Osimhen, after it was revealed that his girlfriend, Stephanie, was born and raised in Germany.

German journalist Kerry Hau explained that Stephanie is particularly open to returning to Germany so that her daughter can grow up closer to her family.

Furthermore, Osimhen is thought to be willing to return to the Bundesliga where he previously played for Wolfsburg.

The report also details Chelsea's interest in the forward, with all three clubs having made contact with the player's management.

However, Osimhen publicly revealed he 'dreams' of playing in the Premier League last month, paving the way for a move to England.

"I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world (Serie A) is an amazing feeling for me," said Osimhen.

“A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.

“I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”
