"What I can say..." - Man Utd star drops hint over future amid contract speculation

"What I can say..." - Man Utd star drops hint over future amid contract speculation

A Man Utd star has addressed his future at the club.

Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has given an update on his potential long-term future at Old Trafford after signing on loan last month.

The Austrian midfielder moved to United from Bayern Munich on deadline day, and will remain at the club until the end of the season.

Erik ten Hag's side were forced to dip into the market after the severity of Christian Eriksen's ankle injury was confirmed, with the Dane set to be out of action until late April.

With midfield cover lacking, the Dutchman elected to bring in Sabitzer, who was made available by Bayern.

After appearing off the bench to make his debut against Crystal Palace, the 30-year-old has started United's last two games in the suspension-enforced absence of Casemiro.

ESPN claimed that Ten Hag was offered nine other players on loan on deadline day, and opted for Sabitzer.

Now, the midfielder has addressed the possibility of staying at United beyond the end of the season.

Sabitzer on Man Utd stay

United signed Sabitzer on a standard loan deal, with no option to buy at the end of the season inserted into his contract.

However, Ten Hag's side could still elect to buy the 30-year-old outright in the summer if he performs strongly enough - and Sabitzer has hinted that could be a possibility.

Speaking to United's official website, he said: "It's a loan, and that's all I can say [about that] at the moment.

"What I can say is I'm feeling very good here. I like the team, I like the club, I like the atmosphere at Old Trafford... so we will see what happens in the summer."

He was also asked about the morale and positivity within the squad right now. United have won six of their eight league games since the World Cup, including Sunday's 2-0 win over Leeds at Elland Road, and sit third in the table.

Sabitzer replied: "You can feel it, from the first moment here. Leeds away is a big game, and we have to win those games. We were ready for it, the attitude was good. We knew before [Leeds at home last Wednesday, 2-2 draw] they would be two tough games and we had to be focused right until the end."
