Manchester United have offered a “crazy salary” to secure the signing of Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema, according to a report.

In October, Benzema was crowned the winner of the Ballon d’Or, after netting 44 goals in 46 matches for Real Madrid. During that time Los Blancos won the Champions League, another La Liga title, as well as a Spanish and European Super Cup.

The 34-year-old became the oldest recipient of the award since Stanley Matthews won its first edition in 1956, while he also became the first Frenchman to win the Balon d’Or since Zinedine Zidane in 1998.

However, since then the France international has played fewer than 30 minutes for Real Madrid due to injury while he was also forced to miss out on the World Cup in Qatar.

With Benzema out of contract in the summer, there has been speculation that the striker could move to pastures new.

Man Utd in for Benzema?

United and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made offers for Benzema.

Ten Hag’s side are in dire need of attacking reinforcements, with only Marcus Rashford and an injury-prone Anthony Martial to choose from after Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrimonious departure from the club.

And Spanish publication Nacional has now linked Benzema with a free transfer to United after Los Blancos allegedly only offered Benzema a new one-year deal.

The report claims that talks between Benzema’s representatives and Real president Florentino Perez are "paralysed" and that the La Liga giants ‘deeply risk losing’ their talisman.

“Crazy Salary”

Nacional added that United had offered Benzema “a crazy salary”, having saved between £15million and £30million with Ronaldo’s departure (as per The Athletic).

The terms would allegedly be “much higher” than what Benzema received at Madrid, while United have also assured the France star that he would be an “undisputed” starter.

Of course, the presence of former Real Madrid team-mates Casemiro and Raphael Varane at Old Trafford could also help sweeten any future deal for Benzema.
