Man Utd captain Maguire 'set for shock move to PSG as French giants line up £50m deal'

Maguire is set for a shock move this summer.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is being lined up by French giants PSG for a shock summer move, according to a new report.

Maguire has struggled to find regular game time at Old Trafford this season, with Erik ten Hag generally opting to choose Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez at centre-back when both players are available.

He has been restricted to only 10 appearances in the Premier League, with two of those league starts coming after the conclusion of the World Cup.

90min claimed earlier this week that Maguire is one of a number of players United are willing to sell this summer, although the Daily Mirror reported that Ten Hag blocked a loan exit to Inter Milan for the defender in January.

The Red Devils have been linked with a potential move for left-sided central defender Josko Gvardiol, currently playing for RB Leipzig, while they could also return with another offer for Ajax star Jurrien Timber.

Now, another European giants has been linked with making a surprise move for the England defender.

Maguire linked with surprise PSG move

According to The Sun, PSG are targeting Maguire this summer as they look to add to their defence.

Sergio Ramos is out of contract with Les Parisiens in the summer, and is yet to agree to a renewal. Should he leave, the French giants will need to line up a replacement.

A deal for Maguire to move to the French club is reported to have 'on the table' in January, although the centre-back remained at United.

It is claimed that PSG would need to match Maguire's £200,000-a-week wages, which is not expected to be an issue. That is despite a report from The Times that the club need to reduce their wage bill by 30 per cent this summer due to FFP.

And while the 30-year-old will aim to help his current side qualify for next season's Champions League, it could be that he is playing in Europe's top club competition for another club next season.
