Manchester United Destroyed 4-0 By Brighton In Their WORST Performance Of The Season

What a performance from the Seagulls.

Manchester United's season hit a new low on Saturday evening with a 4-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Moises Caicedo opened the scoring inside 15 minutes with a long range drive which went through the legs of Victor Lindelof and past David de Gea.

United interim manager Ralf Rangnick brought on Fred and Edinson Cavani for Nemanja Matic and Anthony Elanga, but it did more harm than good.

The Seagulls stayed on the front foot and blitzed United with three goals in 11 minutes after the break.

Marc Cucurella fired home his first Premier League goal and looked visibly emotional after doing so.

A neat move was finished off by Pascal Groß for Brighton's third before Leandro Trossard bundled home a fourth which was checked by VAR.

It's United's 11th defeat of the season and mathematically ends their chances of getting into the top four and in turn, Champions League football next season.

They've conceded 54 goals in the Premier League this campaign which is only second to Leeds United.

That means they've let in more than Norwich City and Watford, who've been relegated.

Supporters in the away end at the AMEX Stadium could be heard chanting 'You're not fit to wear the shirt' throughout the mauling.

In particular, Matic and Scott McTominay were criticised for a shocking showing in midfield.

Fans on social media have reacted to the performance and they're absolutely furious.

One commented: "I've never seen anything like this, ever."

Another said: "Sell the lot of them and don't play them again this season."

A third put: "I'm not even embarrassed anymore I expect it."

While someone tweeted: "Even Ronaldo was laughing at how sh*t we are."

Captain Harry Maguire was brought on for Juan Mata with less than 25 minutes to go as a means of damage limitation.

Maguire did have few chances, with one being turned in by Cavani before VAR judged the Uruguayan to be offside.

United have one game remaining this season and they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on May 22.
