Manchester City's squad were given a hilarious welcome to "training camp" in a video which has gone viral on social media.

The Premier League champions are over in Houston, Texas, as part of a pre-season tour of the United States and will take on Club America and Bayern Munich across the pond.

But before they jetted off, City's stars were in for a bizarre surprise when many were paid bizarre compliments by "the President of the Greeters Guild".

The eccentric character is masterfully played by comedian Troy Hawke, who has become something of a sensation online.

And as City players entered the building, they were greeted by the moustached man himself.

There was pure gold as Jack Grealish's head was completely frazzled after being told he had a “fabulously symmetrical face”.

Confused as ever, Grealish very nearly recreated a classic moment from a talkSPORT interview last summer when he asked, "I have what?" in his thick Brummie accent.

"You have a fabulously symmetrical face!"

He then touched his face before saying, "Cheers!" and walking off. Still in disbelief, he asked a teammate, "Did he say anything to you, that guy? Bro?".

After shaking the hand of Kalvin Phillips, the greeter told the new signing, “You have clear eyes and fabulous skin. You’re clearly a master of hydration".

The former Leeds United midfielder retorted, "I do try yeah" and laughed before being told to keep his "shoulders back" and to "smash it".

Nathan Ake, now believed to be staying at the club, was told he has "the poise of an apex predator, but the eyes of a kindly woodland creature" and that it is a "devastating combination" in an incredible exchange.

There was even a little "Pep talk" comment to manager Pep Guardiola but arguably the best bit of praise came for new No.9 Erling Haaland.

The ex Borussia Dortmund goal machine had no idea what was going on and was expressionless after hearing the phrase, "You are a tremendous Nordic meat shield. Have at it!”

Some of the reactions from the City players are just priceless and the comical video has amassed over 2 million views on Twitter.

Spurred on by the array of compliments, City will take on Club America at NRG Stadium on 21 July in the first friendly, before playing Bayern three days later at Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin.
