Erik ten Hag has given Manchester United the green light to sign 'dominant' Monaco centre-back Axel Disasi, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils boss has already added Mason Mount to his ranks this summer, agreeing a £65 million deal with Chelsea for the 24-year-old midfielder.

Meanwhile, the club are closing in on a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, with the 27-year-old shot-stopper expected to move to Old Trafford before United's tour of the United States gets underway next week.

Ten Hag also has his sights set on a new striker, with Atalanta forward Rasmus Hojlund earmarked as the perfect addition.

However, United are keen to strengthen their defence too, with Monaco’s versatile defender Disasi emerging as a potential addition.

Ten Hag gives Man Utd 'green light' to sign Disasi

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Ten Hag had given his seal of approval for the club to sign 25-year-old Disasi, who is also on Newcastle United's radar.

"Newcastle and Manchester United are both exploring Disasi deal, no bids yet", the Italian tweeted.

Although United are thought to be further along the line than Newcastle, having reportedly been in talks with Disasi "for weeks".

"Newcastle approached player side this week, expected to make contact with Monaco," Romano added.

"Ten Hag approved Disasi — talks for weeks on player side but still waiting for approach with Monaco."

The France international enjoyed a solid campaign for Monaco last term and displayed a potent threat in front of goal, registering six goals and four assists across 49 appearances.

While he was described as "dominant and "complete by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.

Providing some extra detail on United's interest in Disasi, Romano told GiveMeSport that the defender "would be really excited to join United".

"I will keep the name of Axel Disasi in the list. They spoke to the player's side and the player would be really excited to join Manchester United. Disasi is a player they like," he said.
