Man Utd 'ready to bid £50m' for Rasmus Hojlund after private chats with Erik ten Hag

Man Utd 'ready to bid £50m' for Rasmus Hojlund after private chats with Erik ten Hag

United are ready to make their move.

The summer overhaul at Manchester United is gathering pace, with reports claiming the club is ready to bid £50m on a new striker.

United boss Erik ten Hag is keen to build on the success of last season and is working to bring in the signings needed to bridge the gap to bitter rivals, Treble winners Manchester City.

United have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in a deal which potentially reach £60m.

The Premier League club are also in talks to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan and on Wednesday submitted a bid worth €45m (£38.5m) for the Cameroon international goalkeeper.

Sky Sports claim there is 'a gap in valuation' with Inter believed to want closer to €60m (£51.4m). However, there is a feeling a compromise can be struck.

Ten Hag is also keen to bring in a new No 9, having allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the club on a free transfer midway through last season.

But the hunt for a new striker has been complicated by Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, with United's transfer budget restricted this summer.

Tottenham forward Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen were high on Ten Hag's wish-list but are likely to be too expensive for the Old Trafford club, prompting them to look elsewhere.

They have instead turned their attention to Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund, who has been dubbed 'the next Erling Haaland'.

Why are United interested in Hojlund?

Hojlund, who has also been described by Serie A as a 'Danish sensation', scored 10 goals in 34 games for Atalanta last season after joining from Austrian side Sturm Graz.

Ten Hag is keen to sign Hojlund and has held private video calls with the striker over a potential move to Old Trafford.

The Telegraph claim United are now ready to bid £50m for the 20-year-old, although it is claimed that the deal may have to wait for a resolution in the ongoing sale of the Premier League club.

United are also interested Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani but Ten Hag would prefer to sign Hojlund, having spoken directly with the Danish striker.
