Manchester United are the most valuable Premier League club ahead of rivals Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal, according to a new study.

The Red Devils have struggled for consistency since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013, with United going a decade without a Premier League title.

However, United retained their position in terms of overall valuation, which has increased by a whopping 28 per cent over a two-year period.

The Glazer family have hinted that a sale of the club could happen at the right price, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe among those linked with a potential takeover of United.

Sportico has now revealed that United are worth an eye-watering £4.8bn, putting them firmly ahead of Liverpool’s £3.8bn value and City’s £3.5bn value.

Arsenal, who are challenging for the Premier League title this season, are catching up their rivals and have climbed the valuation table.

The Gunners came fourth with a whopping value of £2.9bn, with London rivals Chelsea behind Arsenal on £2.8bn.

Newcastle also made the top 10 most valuable Premier League clubs, with the Magpies securing the biggest increase in valuation for any side between 2021 and 2023.

According to Sportico, the Premier League club have increased by a staggering 63 per cent in the aforementioned period and are now worth £357m.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund led a consortium to complete their stunning acquisition of Newcastle from Mike Ashley in 2021.

“The strength of Manchester United rests on the passion and loyalty of our global community of 1.1billion fans and followers,” Avram and Joel Glazer said in a statement in 2022.

“As we seek to continue building on the club's history of success, the board has authorised a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives.

“We will evaluate all options to ensure that we best serve our fans and that Manchester United maximises the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future.

“Throughout this process we will remain fully focused on serving the best interests of our fans, shareholders and various stakeholders.”
