Ex-Premier League Forward Believes Sadio Mane Will ‘Regret’ Leaving Liverpool

Former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Sadio Mane will ‘regret’ leaving Anfield this summer, but also says the move might be the ‘best for both parties’.

The Senegalese international will see his contract run out at the end of the 2022/2023 season, and his move to Bayern Munich appears more inevitable with the day.

Recent reports confirm the forward has agreed personal terms with the German side, and that negotiations will soon come to a successful conclusion.

Although agreeing that the move will be best for both clubs at each end of the table, Agbonlahor has urged Jurgen Klopp to try and hold on to the winger for at least another season.

“I would keep Mane to be honest”, Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“What he offers the club, what he offers the team, I would keep him. Liverpool might not want to break that wage structure. They won’t be held to ransom. It will be interesting to see.

“Maybe it’s best for both parties. Mane wants to try a different league, he wants the money he feels he deserves and Liverpool don’t want to pay it.”

The Sengalese international is said to be leaving Liverpool due to the reluctance from Liverpool to offer the wages the sengalese superstar demanded.

Mane reportedly wanted £400,000 a week, which the Reds were not prepared to give him.

It is understood that Mohammad Salah, who is also out of contract next summer, is looking for a very similar weekly pot of cash, which could see him enduring the same fate as Mane if the Merseyside club refuse to pull out their wallet.
