Liverpool want to bring "very complete player" to Anfield - could cost up to €120 million

Liverpool want to bring "very complete player" to Anfield - could cost up to €120 million

Liverpool are interested in signing talented Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez

Liverpool are interested in signing talented Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez and are set to enquire about the availability of the youngster.

The Argentine international joined Benfica in the summer for €18 million and has impressed so far during his stint in Portugal.

Fernandez has already played 13 times for the Eagles this season and was a key player in their 2-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League.

Before making the move to Benfica, Fernandez was linked with a host of top clubs including Manchester City and Real Madrid after impressing during his first season of professional football for River Plate.

Having made such a strong start to the season in Europe, the midfielder will once again be in high demand when the summer transfer window comes around.

Benfica have insisted they have no intention of letting the 21-year-old leave in January and the €120 million release clause should keep him at the club beyond the winter.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool will contact the Eagles to find out the price it will take to attain the services of the ‘very complete midfielder’.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have made a slow start to the season and many fans have blamed the reluctance to sign a midfielder as a catalyst to their failure.

It has already been well documented that the Reds will look to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham next summer, but with almost every top club sniffing around for the 19-year-old, it won’t be an easy task to bring him to Anfield.

In the instance that Bellingham moves elsewhere, the Reds could turn to Enzo Fernandez as an alternative to the Englishman.

The Argentine would likely be much cheaper than the premium price Dortmund have quoted for Bellingham and would fit much easier into Liverpool’s wage structure.

With the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set for the exit and Jordan Henderson beginning to hit his twilight years, you can expect the Reds to bring in a midfielder next summer and it would be no surprise to see Fernandez playing at Anfield next season.
