Liverpool legend Sadio Mane 'set for Bayern Munich exit' as German football expert drops update

Liverpool legend Sadio Mane 'set for Bayern Munich exit' as German football expert drops update

Mane could be on his way out.

Liverpool legend Sadio Mane is likely to depart Bayern Munich after just one season at the club, it has been reported.

Mane left Anfield last summer to join the German champions, who currently lead this season's Bundesliga with two games to play.

It has been a difficult campaign for the forward, however, following on from an injury he suffered prior to the World Cup.

After his return at the end of February, Mane has scored just one goal and provided two assists in 13 appearances in all competitions.

He was also involved in an altercation with team-mate Leroy Sane where he punched the German in the face, receiving a fine for misconduct and a suspension from Bayern's next game as a result.

Now, it is claimed by Sky Germany that Mane could be on his way out of the club this summer.

Mane, Cancelo set for Bayern exit

According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, Bayern do not view Mane and team-mate Joao Cancelo as having long-term futures at the Allianz Arena.

Plettenberg claims that Mane is 'unlikely' to stay at the club beyond this summer, meaning his stay in Germany could end within 12 months of joining Bayern from Liverpool.

The German giants have an option to sign loanee Cancelo on a permanent deal from Manchester City, but the report suggests that this option will not be triggered.

Mane's exit could open the door for a dramatic return to Anfield - but that appears highly unlikely given the signings of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo since his departure.

Football Insider claimed last week that the Senegal international was of interest to Chelsea - and that Mauricio Pochettino, who is expected to be appointed as the club's manager, is also keen on bringing the 31-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer.

It is suggested that Mane could play as a centre forward or on either flank for the Blues, something he showcased that he was capable of during his memorable six-year stay at Liverpool.
