Luis Suarez is now a free agent after his contract with Atletico Madrid ran out this summer and after holding positive talks with his former club Nacional, he is weighing up an emotional return to his home country.

Suarez’s senior career started in Uruguay, where he played 27 times for the Nacional first team, after a number of years in the youth side.

Before being snatched up by the Eredivisie side Groningen, he netted 12 goals for the Uruguayan club.

And it is reported that he is considering making a return to the team where his journey into the footballing world began.

According to the Mirror, Jose Fuentes, Nacional Club President, was in Spain earlier this week to work on negotiating a deal for the legendary striker.

This is a move that will guarantee Suarez first team football which is a necessity for all top players ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Suarez left Atletico this summer after two years in Madrid and during his time there he scored the title-sealing goal for the club in his 21 goal season during the 2020/2021 campaign.

It is not only Spain where the veteran has made a name for himself, he is also considered as one of Liverpool’s greatest strikers, and maybe their best ever in the Premier League era.

His legendary stint at the club saw him leave with an astonishing 82 goals from 133 matches and he will undoubtedly always have a place in Reds fans’ hearts.

Recent reports have suggested that the 35 year-old has been offered to German side Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer. This news comes after it was revealed Dortmund No.9 Sebastian Haller was forced to leave the club’s training camp after a testicular tumour was discovered.

Coupled with the departure of Erling Haaland, this devastating news forces Dortmund to find a clinical striker for the upcoming season.

Suarez may be the man they look towards.
