Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal all plot move for Mac Allister with talks already underway

Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been linked with a move for Argentina World Cup star Alexis Mac Allister.

The Brighton midfielder is one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League, having been central to his club's fortunes this term.

Moreover, Mac Allister’s status in the world game was greatly enhanced in Qatar, after the 24-year-old made a substantial contribution to Argentina’s first World Cup crown since 1986.

The player, who was labelled “intelligent” by Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, is now thought to be on the wishlist of some of the world’s biggest clubs.

Liverpool, who are in desperate need of midfield recruits in the summer, are thought to have identified Mac Allister as a target, while Arsenal and United have also reportedly registered an interest.

Mac Allister to leave Brighton?

South American journalist César Luis Merlo claimed that United, Liverpool and Arsenal all retained a “concrete interest” in signing Mac Allister in the subsequent transfer window.

He added that two of the clubs in question were already in negotiations with the Brighton star.

In a tweet, that has been translated from Spanish, Merlo alleged: “Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal have a concrete interest in signing Alexis Mac Allister in the next transfer window.

“Two of those clubs are already negotiating for the Brighton footballer. His father and agent are in England monitoring the situation.”

Mac Allister has remained a key player for Roberto De Zerbi's side this season, having scored eight goals in his 24 league appearances.

Speaking in March, Mac Allister admitted that while his short-term future was with Brighton, he wanted his next move to be in the Premier League.

Speaking to Argentinian outlet TyC Sports, he said: “At the moment I’m enjoying my present at Brighton and I’m not thinking about the future.
