Trent Alexander-Arnold may be dealt a major blow in his fourth match as a Real Madrid player as Xabi Alonso considers making a big change to the team.
In perhaps the most exciting fixture of the competition so far, La Liga giants Real Madrid will face Juventus in the Club World Cup round of 16 on Tuesday night.
The winners of the match, which will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, will face either Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarter finals.
Going into the game, all eyes will be on former Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold after he promised that his 'settlement period' was now over and that he would continue to improve following a solid performance against Austrian side RB Salzburg.

But the defender's hopes of putting in another impressive performance for his new club may take a massive blow as manager Alonso is considering making a shock change to the lineup.

After poor performances against both Al Hilal and Pachuca, Alexander-Arnold shone against Salzburg after Alonso changed his formation, allowing Alexander-Arnold to play as a right-wing back.
However, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS, this will likely not be the case for the match against Juventus on Tuesday, as Real Madrid will instead revert to a lineup with four at the back.

This means that Alexander-Arnold will have to return to the more defensive role that he struggled in during Madrid's opening two matches at the Club World Cup.
The return of Real Madrid legend Dani Carvajal may also be a problem for Alexander-Arnold, as the Spaniard will almost certainly come off the bench should the 26-year-old fail to impress during the match.

However, the England international will be confident that he will be able to put in another top performance, after he appeared to address his rocky start at Madrid following the match against Salzburg.

“The settlement period now is done and it’s about kicking on and being the best player that I can be and giving the best for the team and helping the team win as many games as possible starting with this competition," he said.
