Trent Alexander-Arnold and his Real Madrid teammates could be set to receive a ‘special gift’ following the conclusion of the 2025 Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold, 26, completed his move from Liverpool to Real Madrid on June 1 and has since featured four times for Xabi Alonso’s side at the Club World Cup having registered his first assist for Los Blancos during their 1-0 round of 16 victory against Juventus.

On Saturday, Trent will hope to make a positive impact on Real’s quarter-final clash with Borussia Dortmund at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

So far, the Spanish media have been split with their opinions on the England international’s performances.

On Wednesday, Mundo Deportivo wrote: “His assist in the 1-0 lead improved the poor start to the match, with errors unbecoming of his level.”

While Football Espana were more complimentary and gave the Liverpudlian an eight out of ten rating for his efforts against Juve.

And of course, it’s far too early to judge Trent’s impact on his new side, but he could still be in line to receive a ‘special gift’ alongside his teammates if the La Liga giants win the tournament.

As reported by Spanish outlet AS, the club have put forward an incentive of “€1 million gross for each player if they win the tournament”, which is “the same amount awarded for a Champions League win, with the club putting the Club World Cup on that same level” as Europe’s premier club competition.

The bonus will be added to Trent’s already hefty wage of around €15m per year (£12.9m), equal to around €288,461 (£248,897) per week.

And the clubs have also benefited hugely from appearing at the revamped 32-team Club World Cup.
