Trent Alexander-Arnold has held a meeting with new Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa where it was outlined that the England international is at "breaking point, reports in Spain claim.
Alexander Arnold signed for the 15-time European champions in the summer, leaving boyhood club Liverpool on a sour note after helping the Reds to a record-breaking 20th league title.
His contract expired at the end of the season and so Liverpool were initially set to lose the right-back on a free transfer.
But because Xabi Alonso and Real wanted him for the Club World Cup, they paid a fee of around £10 million to secure his services earlier for the tournament in the United States.
Advert
The seventh Englishman to play for Los Blancos, Alexander-Arnold penned a six-year contract and linked up with pal Jude Bellingham.
However, Alexander-Arnold has not a difficult start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu, struggling with injuries and form.

Alonso, the man who signed him, has been given the boot and it appears as though Arbeloa, another former Liverpool and Real player, does not see a future for him in the Spanish capital.
According to El Nacional, Arbeloa "has intervened directly to make it clear that he is not part of the team's plan".
It's claimed that Arbeloa sat down with Alexander-Arnold for a "frank conversation" where it was made clear that he look for another club in the summer as he will not be getting sufficient playing time.
The Spaniard is described as having been "been clear, honest, and direct" in the meeting, with the club agreeing that Alexander-Arnold ought to move on earlier than anticipated for the sake of his career.
With "defensive frailties have been exposed in several matches" as well as a lack of impact going forward, it's believed that Alexander-Arnold needs a "less demanding environment where he can regain confidence and consistent playing time".

He still has a further years on his contract but it's reported that Real's coaching staff are of the view that he has never adapted to life and the experiment is to be abandoned prematurely.
Two clubs 'interested' in signing Trent Alexander-Arnold
Alexander-Arnold has already been heavily linked with Bayern Munich but reports also claim there is interest from the Premier League.
According to Fichajes, Newcastle United are 'closely monitoring' Alexander-Arnold's situation. The 27-year-old is said to want to join a club where he is "an undisputed star" and it's claimed offers of £35 million could be enough to get a deal done.
Alexander-Arnold has played 11 times in all competitions, including eight appearances in La Liga.
