Jose Mourinho is poised to bring back a former Real Madrid favourite as part of his coaching staff for his second spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Mourinho had been heavily rumoured to return to Los Blancos, with Florentino Perez promising to appoint the 63-year-old as long as he won the presidential election against challenger Enrique Riquelme.
Perez, who has been running Real Madrid since 2009 after embarking on a second stint in the role, accrued 65% of the votes in the first presidential election in 20 years to feature a challenger.
The 79-year-old said he is "here to defend Real Madrid" after his victory and added he is "proud to welcome back one of the best coaches in the world, a Madridista like Jose Mourinho".

Now that Perez is staying on until 2030, Mourinho will leave Real and sign a three-year contract.
After making a series of demands in discussions, Mourinho will be flanked with by many members of his Benfica backroom staff at Real.
However, it's emerged that there could be a surprise addition to his team.
According to journalist Ramon Alvarez, former defender Pepe is "well positioned to become a member of Mourinho's technical staff" at the 15-time European champions.
Pepe played 334 times for Real, winning three La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.
The Portugal international spent three seasons working under Mourinho and could be set to reunite with him in a coaching capacity after his 2024 retirement.
Jose Mourinho places six Real Madrid players on the transfer list
Having received approval from Mourinho, the signings of both Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries are also set to be announced imminently.
Mourinho is poised to be officially presented for the second time on Wednesday and there have already been a flurry of reports pertaining to players who he does not see as part of his plans.
As per Alvarez, Mourinho has placed six players on the transfer list.
It's claimed that that he does not count on Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo Goes and Franco Mastantuono and they are allowed to move on.
Similarly, Fran Garcia, Raul Asencio and Dani Ceballos are also deemed to be surplus to requirements.
However, a new report from Samuel Luckhurst states that Mourinho wishes to keep France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in his ranks.
Tchouameni, who had a high-profile bust-up with Federico Valverde, has been heavily linked with Manchester United.
But the latest information is that Mourinho rates Tchouameni highly and sees him as a key part of his plans.
