Kevin De Bruyne produced a sensational chipped finish to effortlessly beat Aaron Ramsdale and fire in Manchester City’s opener against Arsenal on Wednesday.

City broke the deadlock in the 24th minute at the Emirates after a shockingly bad back pass from Takehiro Tomiyasu, who came under pressure from Jack Grealish.

An under-pressure Tomiyasu’s sloppy pass was intercepted by De Bruyne, who produced a sublime finish to loft the ball over an onrushing Ramsdale.

Furious Arsenal fans took to social media to slam the 24-year-old Japanese defender for his weak pass in such a crucial Premier League encounter for the Gunners.

“Still can’t believe how thick that was from Tomiyasu. So frustrating when we’re the better team,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “Tomiyasu, keep your ball and draw a foul. What’s the rush?”

A third posted: “What in this world was that, Tomiyasu? Super no more.”

While one fan wrote: “Why didn’t Tomiyasu put it in row Z?”

City playmaker De Bruyne, on the other hand, earned incredible praise from fans after his exquisite opener against Arsenal.

“De Bruyne deserves recognition as one of the best players of Premier League football as a CAM. His numbers are insane,” a Twitter user wrote.

And a second tweeted: “Kevin De Bruyne is the player he thinks he is.”

Another fan posted: “Kevin De Bruyne is the greatest midfielder in Premier League history.”

One fan said: “Not many could take that as De Bruyne did.”

Arsenal climbed back into the contest before half-time after the Gunners received a penalty from a controversial decision.

Eddie Nketiah collided with Ederson after pulling the trigger on his shot, which was cleared off the line by Nathan Ake.

However, the referee pointed to the spot and awarded a penalty to Arsenal, with City left furious at the decision.

Bukayo Saka sent Ederson the wrong way and coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net, with Arsenal going into half-time level with City.
