Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior has sent a message to Jurrien Timber ahead of his potential move to the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta is keen to bring the Ajax defender to north London as he attempts to bolster his back line ahead of a busy Champions League schedule next season.

While their initial £30 million offer was turned down by the Dutch club, Arsenal appear to be making ground in their pursuit of the Netherlands international.

Providing an update on Timber's situation on Monday, transfer expert Romano tweeted: "Arsenal have submitted second official proposal to Ajax in order to get Jurrien Timber deal done this week.

"Talks advancing between clubs after £30m opening bid rejected. Personal terms agreed last week on five year contract."

And Kiwior has urged the 22-year-old to join the club, believing they can win silverware together.

Kiwior urges Timber to join Arsenal

Kiwior sealed a move to Arsenal from Italian side Spezia in January, but has played just eight games since his move.

And Timber's potential arrival would provide further competition to the Poland international.

However, Kiwior has welcomed the idea of Timber's move, revealing he wants "the best players" to join the club.

"I’m glad there’s going to be more competition," Kiwior told Polish outlet Meczyki when asked about the possibility of incoming signings, before asking the reporter: "Who’s coming?"

After being informed that Timber could be heading to the Emirates, Kiwior replied: "It’s great that he’s joining"

"Let the best players play at Arsenal. Let’s win matches and win trophies together."

Timber could become Arteta's second signing of the summer, with the Gunners set to announce the £65m signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea in the coming days.

While Arsenal are expected to lodge a third bid for Declan Rice imminently after Manchester City saw a £90 million bid for the 24-year-old rejected by West Ham on Monday evening.
