'I think it's very difficult for them' - Jurgen Klopp tipped to leave Liverpool next season

Tim Sherwood doesn’t believe that Liverpool’s owners will sack Jurgen Klopp, despite the Reds’ underwhelming performance this season.

Jurgen Klopp could make his sensational exit from Liverpool at the end of the season ahead of a “total rebuild” for the Premier League club, according to Tim Sherwood.

Klopp bolstered his attacking options in the summer after Liverpool splashed out a club-record fee of £85m to sign Darwin Nunez from Benfica.

However, the Liverpool manager faced a major blow after Senegal winger Sadio Mane completed a £35m move to Bayern Munich.

The Reds have struggled with consistency in the first half of the season and languish in eighth place in the league table, with Liverpool five points adrift from the top four.

Liverpool have only won four of their 11 Premier League fixtures, with the Reds suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Klopp, who arrived at Anfield in 2015, has led Liverpool to the Premier League title, the Champions League, an FA Cup and a League Cup during his seven-year spell.

Sherwood believes that the Liverpool boss won’t be at the club next season and remains unconvinced Klopp can make them title challengers again.

The former Tottenham manager added that Liverpool would be in need of a “total rebuild” if Klopp is unable to lead them into the Premier League top four this season.

Speaking on The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Sherwood said: “The problem Liverpool have got is this team is used to challenging for titles.

“It’s gone for them this season, they’re not going to win the Premier League, so where’s the motivation and drive from the players?

“The club will say they cannot be out of the Champions League but it can be tough for players when they’ve challenged for titles and, all of a sudden, it’s taken away from them. I think it’s very difficult for them.

“I don’t think Jurgen Klopp is their next season, I think there’s a conversation to be had. I’m not sure Jurgen picks them up from where they are and makes them challengers again, I really don’t.

“History says he doesn’t do that. He’s very good and drives teams all the way. But it’s going to be a fight to get in the top four now. If they miss out on the top four, it’s a rebuild, a total rebuild.

“I don’t think they’ll sack him but there will be a conversation where both parties agree that Jurgen has taken them as far as he can and they go for a new challenge. That’s just my hunch when I look at him and the team.”

Liverpool will resume their Champions League campaign on Wednesday with an away trip to Ajax.
