Jack Grealish tells Real Madrid icon to ‘zip it’ after stunning Man City demolition

Jack Grealish tells Real Madrid icon to ‘zip it’ after stunning Man City demolition

Grealish has his say.

Jack Grealish had the last laugh after receiving criticism from Real Madrid legend Guti.

The Manchester City star hit back at the former Spain international, having been singled out for his performance in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final

The City star hit back at the former Spain international who singled out Grealish’s performance in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

After City drew 1-1 at Bernabeu Guti was dismissive of City’s attacking threat. Indeed, Speaking on the Spanish football TV show El Chringuito he singled out Grealish, claiming he “doesn’t dribble past anyone” and that he hasn’t “seen him” turn up in Europe.

Guti said: “The coaches have changed roles, now the bold one is Ancelotti and the defensive one is Guardiola.

“Manchester City have less offensively. They used to have two full-backs who came in like lightning from the back and now they don’t. They put in Bernardo Silva, who is not a winger, and they lose a player there.

“City have Jack Grealish, who doesn’t dribble past anyone. In the Premier League, he might outsmart everyone, but I haven’t seen him in the Champions League.”

Guti’s initial criticism of Grealish was harsh, given the England international created six chances from open play – the most by an away player at the Bernabeu in a European match since 2007.

Grealish hits back at Guti comments

Of course in the second leg City were relentless, winning 4-0 against a lacklustre Los Blancos. Bernardo Silva netted twice in the first half before Eder Militao claimed an own goal and Julian Alvarez rounded off the scoring.

Grealish too, starred as City demolished the reigning Champions. He ranked first in the game for dribbles, crosses completed and runs into the attacking third, while ranked second for total tackles.

And the 27-year-old couldn’t resist reminding Guti how his comments backfired.

Grealish posted a zipped-face emoji on Twitter on Friday night, in response to a clip of Guti’s criticism.

It was the second time Guti had been humbled that week, having been filmed sitting in stunned silence for 160 seconds after Real’s 4-0 drubbing.
