Jack Grealish responded to VAR's penalty decision after the game in a refreshingly honest interview.

Manchester United were awarded a controversial penalty in the FA Cup final following a VAR review.

Grealish was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the 18-yard-box, with referee Paul Tierney asked to take a look at the incident on the pitch side monitor.

Typically, a penalty was given which Bruno Fernandes calmly dispatched, sending Stefan Ortega the wrong way and drawing United level at 1-1.

Fortunately for Grealish, Ilkay Gundogan's second half strike was enough to seal victory and the trophy, saving the Englishman's blushes.

However, Grealish, like plenty of other fans around the world didn't think it was a penalty.

Talking to the BBC after the full-time whistle, Grealish said: "I genuinely don't know how it's a penalty. I'm not even looking at the ball, I've missed the ball with my head.

"I can understand if I'm trying to block a cross and looking it but anyway, Gundo saved me."

Fans soon took to social media to praise his honesty.

One user wrote: "Love the honesty from Grealish in his interview there, talking about the pen decision, refreshing and something rarely seen in the modern era."

Another added: "Loved Grealish’s analysis on the penalty. He’s a National treasure, his post match interviews are brilliant."

While a third wrote: "I love how Grealish gives a personal interview, only guy who's not a robot."
