It Took Ralf Rangnick Just Two Weeks To Turn Austria Into A Drilled Pressing Team, Footage Emerges

Footage of Ralf Rangnick's Austria side pressing Denmark before scoring has emerged and many wish they could've seen it at Manchester United.

Rangnick was appointed United interim manager in November and had until the end of the season to change their fortunes.

The 63-year-old was set to move into a consultancy role the following summer with the Red Devils on the hunt for a new manager.

Instead, Rangnick chose to take the Austria national team job and later declared he would be leaving United altogether after finishing sixth with their lowest-ever Premier League points tally.

He arrived in England with a reputation for fast, intense football. We saw very little of that at Old Trafford and the lasting memory of Rangnick is his soundbites from press conferences.

While the United players didn't take to his methods, Austria's have and they scored a lovely equaliser in their Nations League game on Monday.

Austria are already gegenpressing.

Denmark defender Joachim Andersen attempted to play the ball back to goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and Austria forward Michael Gregoritsch figured out what was going on.

The FC Augsburg man slid in to nick the ball off Schmeichel and it bounced out to Marco Arnautovic.

He darted to the byline and put a cross in for Xaver Schlager to sweep home.

Austria weren't able to kick on and find a winner however and with six minutes to go, Jens Stryger Larsen scored to give Denmark a 2-1 victory.

Fans have reacted to the footage and they're amazed at how much better Austria look under Rangnick than United did.

One commented: "This is why he said we needed 10 new players."

Another said: "Tears even a team like Austria were able to adapt to it quickly but for our players, this was just too much of training."

A third tweeted: "Ralf was not the problem I've said it so many times."

While someone said: "We pressed like this for 32 minutes against Crystal Palace and then never again."

United scouts were in attendance at the Ernst-Happel Stadion but it's unknown who they were watching.

They've been linked with a shock move for Christian Eriksen in the last few weeks and he played the full 90 minutes for Denmark.

Eriksen joined Brentford in January and has the option to stay at the Bees, but the prospect of European football could be too much to turn down.
