Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has praised Erling Haaland for his “monster” mentality in the front of the net, despite claiming that Harry Kane is a “better footballer.”
Haaland has made an immediate impact at City in his debut season and has been in scintillating goalscoring form since his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
The 22-year-old Norwegian striker is the firm favourite to beat Tottenham star Kane to the Premier League Golden Boot this season.
Haaland has scored an incredible 28 times in 26 Premier League appearances this season, putting him eight clear of Spurs striker Kane in the goalscoring charts.

The Norway international put on a clinical display on Tuesday evening after scoring an incredible five times against RB Leipzig in City’s 7-0 Champions League win.
Cundy compared Haaland to a shark in the water when it comes to his goalscoring output, with the talkSPORT pundit calling him a “goal pig.”
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “He’s a monster. He’s a monster in front of goal.
“He’s a monster. He literally is a goal pig. Once he sniffs goals, he’s like a shark. You know how sharks smell blood and you see them in the water […].”
Despite his praise for Haaland, Cundy insisted that Kane is a better footballer than him and City would win the league title if they had the England captain in their team.
“I think that Harry Kane is a better footballer. I say that consistently, I’ve said it for years,” he said.
“Are you telling me that in that team Kane wouldn’t score goals? He may not score five, but Harry Kane is a [No] 10 and a [No] 9 and he can drop in.
“If Harry Kane plays for City, I think that City win the title. Harry Kane brings players in.
“Harry Kane is a brilliant footballer and a brilliant goalscorer. Haaland is a brilliant goalscorer, he’s the best No 9 in the world -- there’s no question of that, but Harry Kane is the better footballer.
“He creates, he sets goals up. He’s a better footballer and I think what City have missed this season is that kind of link-up player.
“I’m not taking anything away from Haaland. Haaland is the best No 9, but Harry Kane is the best 9/10.”
