Harry Kane’s perfect penalty streak, spanning 24 spot-kicks, was lost today after a Wolfsburg player seemingly trampled the spot.
Kane has not only been one of Europe’s finest penalty-takers during the 2025/26 season, he’s also been one of the finest players in world football.
The Englishman has recorded 55 goals and seven assists in 49 appearances for the Bundesliga champions this season, a career-high total for Kane.
In today’s clash against Wolfsburg — a game defined by Michael Olise’s 56th-minute curling wonder strike — Kane had the opportunity to add to his 33 Bundesliga goals this season with his 11th penalty in the German top-flight in 2025/26.

The Englishman had scored 24 successive penalties for Bayern Munich, spanning back to the 2023/24 season when he joined the German side from Tottenham Hotspur.
Olise won the penalty for his team-mate in the 35th minute of play, only for Kane to step up and put his effort bizarrely off target, aiming for the net’s upper right corner.
Kane’s streak ends after Wolfsburg player tampers with the spot
Eagle-eyed fans noticed via television replays that Wolfsburg centre-back Jeanuël Belocian trampled the penalty spot moments prior to Kane’s effort, which flew wide of the goal.
Immediately after missing, the 32-year-old looked back in shock at the penalty spot, clearly feeling as if the ground had played a role in his penalty failure.

Wolfsburg are currently placed 16th in the Bundesliga, six points removed from a drop-zone escape with Werder Bremen occupying 15th.
Despite the German side’s penalty spot tampering, which occurred at 0-0, Wolfsburg eventually fell to a glorious curling effort from Olise in the second half - a goal which ranks amongst the very best in the French international’s ever-growing catalogue.
While Kane’s penalty miss will have little impact on Bayern Munich’s already confirmed Bundesliga title victory, the Englishman will now likely fail to set a new career-high league goal tally.
His current best is notched at 36 Bundesliga goals, set during his debut season in 2023/24, and the 32-year-old is now four strikes away from breaking his own record with just one game remaining.
Kane is no stranger to turning up when the pressure is on for achieving scoring records and titles, notably beating Everton’s Romelu Lukaku to the 2016/17 Premier League Golden Boot by scoring seven goals in his last two league fixtures.
The Englishman, who was tipped as the Ballon D’or favourite prior to Bayern Munich’s 6-5 aggregate loss to PSG in the Champions League semi-final last week, will also look ahead to his side’s DFB Pokal final against Stuttgart later this month, hoping to achieve more silverware before the 2026 World Cup.
